Preventative Dentistry
The goal of general and preventive dentistry to catch things before they become a real problem, but we need your help in doing so!
Bringing your child in every six months for a routine checkup is key to successful preventive care. At their checkup, we will examine the health of your child's gums and teeth, take any necessary x-rays, perform a routine cleaning and screen for oral cancer. Doing so will help them ensure their smile is happy and healthy.
The foundation of every healthy smile starts with at-home prevention. By encouraging your child to practice good oral hygiene at home and by scheduling their regular checkups at Kids Dental Care, you can cut down on unwanted treatment costs and help keep your child's smile bright and healthy for many years to come!
Here are a few simple ways to prevent the buildup of plaque and cavities:
- Brush teeth at least twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush
- Brush with fluoride toothpaste
- Brush the top surface of the tongue
- Clean between the teeth by flossing at least once a day
- Use mouthwash to help kill bacteria and freshen breath
- Eat a balanced diet, and try to avoid extra-sugary treats
- Schedule regular 6-month checkups at Kids Dental Care
